Creating a new Study

In ACP, a study is a collection of user-provided data that forms the basis for generating conduit routing solutions. It’s composed of the Electrical Model, Background Geometry, Schedule Inputs, and Design Rules.

This is the first article in a series that outlines the full process of creating and configuring a study. In this guide, we’ll focus on the initial setup, just enough to get your study created and ready for further configuration in the next steps.


Create a Study

  1. Navigate to the Project tab in ACP.

  2. Select an existing project by clicking on a Project name, or by selecting .

    • Or create a new project.

    • You are taken to the Project view, which contains a list of studies if any were previously created for the project.

    • If no studies are created, the list will be blank.

  1. Click Create Study to generate a new study within the project.

  2. In the Create Study pop-up, fill out the study information.

  3. Click Create to create the study.

    • Or Cancel to exit from the study creation process.


About Study Information

Any field prefixed with a (*) is required.

  • Study Name: Provide a unique and descriptive study name.  

  • Choose Study Color: Click "Choose study color" to open the color selection window.

    • The selected color will be applied to the conduit solution in the ACP viewer, and the solutions table.

      • Select a custom color or stick with the default.

        • You can use the color picker or enter the hex value of your preferred color.

      • This color may be updated at any time.

  • Description: Add a short description (max 150 characters).

    • This may be used to note differences between studies, or updates to the imported data.

  • Rule Template: Select a rule template if applicable.

    • This is the only opportunity to set a Rule Template.

    • If left blank, you can define rules later in the Design Rules section.
